Faculty Mentoring Resources
I have benefited from the generosity and wise counsel of many mentors over the years, and am now doing my part to foster mentoring and faculty development across the disciplines. Here are some links that may be of interest to graduate students and junior faculty seeking resources on mentoring:
New and Not-So-New Faculty Network
I am the founder and organizer of the New and Not-So-New Faculty Network, an informal group of junior and senior faculty who meet twice every semester to share lunch, stories, and tips for "learning the ropes" at the Brooklyn Campus of LIU. We started as a handful of newly hired faculty in September 2003 and now have more than eighty junior and senior faculty members.
Each meeting features a guest speaker presenting on a topic of interest to new faculty. These meetings provide opportunities for junior and senior faculty to get to know each other.

If you are a faculty member on the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University, please e-mail me to join our network and to join our listserve, which we use to post general questions and answers, to publicize upcoming events of interest, and to announce our meetings.
How can I mentor someone who doesn't look like me? (work in progress)
This is a short piece I wrote in response to a question about mentoring faculty and graduate students of diverse backgrounds and identities. I am currently expanding it for publication and welcome your comments. Feel free to circulate this informal draft to your colleagues who may find it helpful. I will post the full citation here when it is published.
